Kilimanjaro is the highest free standing and walkable mountain in the world.  It is often referred to as the Roof of Africa because at its 5,895 meters it towers over clouds as Africa’s highest peak.  To climb Kilimanjaro, you do not need to have any mountaineering expertise but you do need to be generally fit and have no breathing-related problems.

Climbing Kilimanjaro can be a rewarding experience for many different reasons.  It can be a personal challenge, putting your body and mind to the test as climbing Kilimanjaro is often mind over matter.  It can be a great group, family or company event which brings people closer together.  It can also be a way to give back to the community from which most of Kilimanjaro porters and guides come from, and local people get their crops and water.

OMAWA is an established non-profit organization located at the foothills of Kilimanjaro and all of its funds go directly back to the community via our education sponsorship, vocational training, women’s income generating activities (IGAs).

Your Climb

Cost

The cost will vary depending on the total number of climbers and route used

For example: Lemosho route for 7 days

Group of 5 – 9 climbers*: $2150 per person

Group of 10 or more climbers*: $2050 per person

$150 donation to OMAWA is built into the cost of the climb but we encourage all climbers to fundraise as part of this once in a lifetime experience.  Make your climb mean more!

* Please note that OMAWA will be able to offer the Kilimanjaro climb even if there are fewer than 5 climbers.

WE would organize your climb with a climbing company that treats their guides and porters fairly (fair pay and fair treatment) and respects the mountain, arrange your accommodation and transport.  We would introduce you to our students and invite you to visit them at their home so you can see whom you are supporting.  We would take you on a tour of Moshi, our Women’s income generating activities.  We would also feature your group/family/company on our website and social media.

YOU would prepare for the climb, perhaps organize a few hikes before you depart, get the necessary gear, meet your fellow climbers and make new friends, and raise funds for OMAWA in support of your climb.

Come and join many others in sharing the satisfaction of standing above the clouds, watching the sun rise over Africa, feeling a great sense of accomplishment and helping the local community in the process. If you want to get more detailed preparation information on trekking Kilimanjaro see the Climb Kilimanjaro Guide.

We look forward to standing with you on top of Mt. Kilimanjaro.
