Volunteer Fees

Every penny of your volunteer fee goes to running OMAWA
OMAWA is one of the ONLY non-profit organizations that is run by volunteers, enabling 100% of all donations to go directly to our Orphans support and volunteers’ accommodation.

Why Pay to Volunteer?

OMAWA’s budget is comprised solely of volunteer fees, grants and donations.  For some people, it may seem strange that you have to pay money when you are already donating your time.  Since we are a small organization, volunteer fees account for the majority of our working budget. Our budget has to cover the operation of the Vocational Training Centre (VTC), purchase of our students’ supplies, running the Women’s Income Generating Scheme, running the Children’s Program, providing accommodation and food to volunteers, recruiting volunteers, and more.  It is important for you to know that 100% of your volunteer fee (and every donation we receive) goes to running the OMAWA programs and women income generating activities.  OMAWA is unique in this regard.  We do not have large overhead or administrative costs since we are volunteer-run.  Your money works harder at OMAWA than it would at the vast majority of other charities.

Volunteer Fees

The program fee is $400 USD per week for the first 4 weeks.  Additional weeks are $150 USD per week.  Volunteer fees are due in full 4 weeks prior to your arrival in Tanzania. Fees are non‐refundable.  (If unforeseen circumstances arise, refunds will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.)

The program fee for returning volunteers (who volunteered in the past with OMAWA for 4 or more weeks) is $200 USD per week.  This fee includes: airport pick up, accommodation, dinners & volunteer placement.

Your volunteer fee supports the vital work that OMAWA is doing.  You can pay your volunteer fee by making arrangement with the OMAWA Director. For more information contact him at josephmaro@omawatanzania.org
